Baptism
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 29:19 CSB
Jesus commanded that everyone who turns from their sin and trusts in Him as Savior and Lord is to be baptized. Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is a prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper.
Common Questions about Baptism
If you are interested in being baptized, you can come forward at the conclusion of our Sunday morning worship service to speak to a pastor, indicate interest on our Welcome Card, or contact the church office to meet with a pastor.
Membership
So those who accepted his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand people were added to them. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. Acts 2:41-42 CSB
God calls us into a covenant relationship with Him and with one another in Christ. If you are interested in church membership, you can speak to a pastor before or after our Sunday worship service, indicate interest on the Welcome Card found on the back of each pew, or contact the church office to meet with a pastor. An ideal first step is to attend an upcoming Next Steps Class to learn fully what church membership is all about. To learn more, see
Membership at First Baptist.
Serve
Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God. If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. - I Peter 4:11-12 CSB
