The New Vision Era refers to the next season of ministry at First Baptist that we see emerging. The New Vision is something we are discovering, not creating. This is why congregational prayer is so important to the process. As the Lord reveals his plans, we will focus on obeying what God is directing us to do at that time. So far, we have felt led to focus on clarifying “how” we will disciple Christians in the New Vision Era. We refer to this as “Life-on-Life” Discipleship. Since this is our essential mission, what we do here will likely determine much of how the New Vision takes shape. In the next phases of discovery we will pray through other key questions including those related to congregational health and growth, spiritual formation and worship, community engagement, and global mission involvement and impact.
First Baptist Lebanon is a congregation of Christian disciples living in community with one another under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We exist to glorify God through worship, service, sharing His message in word and deed, and making disciples among our families, friends, neighbors, peers and anyone else to whom the Spirit leads us. We aspire to remain entirely dependent on God as we grow through life-on-life relationships and advance his Kingdom on earth.
Life-on-Life Discipleship is a philosophy of ministry that values relationships as the primary means through which the Gospel is transferred from one person to another. The goal is to help people experience the abundant life that Jesus promised them while preparing them to help others do the same.
