Why should I become a member of  FBC Lebanon?

While you can share fully in worship, fellowship, and ministry at First Baptist Church without becoming an official "member," membership does have its privileges and responsibilities.  In other words, deciding to make First Baptist or some other congregation your church home really does matter because experiencing membership in a faith family...

    * Strengthens your love for and commitment to your church.
    * Encourages others to become a part of the church.
    * Gives you opportunities to participate in leadership roles and church decisions.
    * Helps you to determine your place in ministry.

If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, you can become a part of First Baptist Church. Because we want you to understand exactly what you are becoming a part of, we require those who want to be a part of First Baptist to participate in an orientation class called "Discovering Membership."

How can I become a part of the First Baptist family?

We receive new members and announce them as such during any worship service. Usually near the end of a service is a time of decision we call the invitation. Simply approach anyone who is standing down front during this time and tell them you are ready to join. They will guide you from there.

Members must have made the decision to trust Christ as Lord and Savior and have been baptized by immersion in a church that believes like Immanuel concerning the saving power of Jesus. Anyone who has not yet made this decision or has not experienced baptism can request help for such during the invitation or by contacting a pastor or the church office.

Often people will talk to a pastor and take care of giving the office basic information in advance of coming forward during the invitation. Thus that person or family can simply be presented and affirmed as our newest members at our next worship service.

Contact a pastor or ask one of our members if you have questions about joining.

I already participate at First Baptist Lebanon, why should I become a part of the family?

While you may choose to participate on a regular basis without becoming a full part of the First Baptist family, you'll miss the joy and accountability that comes when you formally and officially say, "This is my church family. I want everyone to know that this is where I'm planting my life as a believer."
