Our Mission

First Baptist Church of Lebanon, Tennessee, enters the field of sponsored Weekday
Early Education because it is our belief that young children acquire Christian attitudes
and actions by everyday influences in their lives. We claim Proverbs 22:6 as our scriptural
reference:"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Because of this belief we have established a program we feel is designed to do just that. Our
program is planned to meet a child's need, therefore, tasks are designed to his/her needs,
interests, and abilities.

Our Goals

The day your child enters pre-kindergarten is the beginning of an important phase in
his or her life. Since birth, you, as a parent, have borne the full responsibility for the growth
and development of your child. Now the pre-kindergarten program will start to share that
responsibility with you.

First Baptist Church Pre-Kindergarten is very earnestly committed to a philosophy of close
relationships between pre-kindergarten and home. We need your help and understanding if we
are to do the very best for your child.Each child is an individual, different from every other child,
and grows at his own rate. It is better that he be allowed to develop this way. He will learn
more easily when he is ready to learn. You know that he learned to sit up when his back was strong
enough. No matter how much you might have tried to have him sit up earlier, he could not do it.

Our pre-kindergarten program provides a simple, wholesome environment which fosters the best
learning. It is planned to meet the child's needs; therefore, tasks suitable to his needs,
interests, and abilities are planned for him by skillful guidance of the pre-kindergarten teacher.
She will help him learn:

    * to play cooperatively
    * to follow directions
    * to feel secure at school
    * to listen
    * to work independently
    * to develop a foundation for learning language, literacy, math, science, art, and music.

Every moment we are with your child we pray for patience and wisdom as we work together to
provide only the best opportunities for learning.
